From December 6 to 7, 2023, the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs held a 2023 national animal husbandry production situation analysis meeting in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, to study and judge the development situation of animal husbandry production and information technology, exchange local experience and practices, and deploy key work in 2024.

The meeting pointed out that this year's livestock production to maintain growth momentum, the annual production of meat, eggs and milk is expected to hit a record high, livestock and poultry production efficiency continues to improve, stable production of livestock products to ensure the foundation of continuous consolidation. It is necessary to effectively improve the accuracy and foresight of animal husbandry monitoring and early warning, guide producers to "set production according to demand", promote industry quality and efficiency, and better meet consumers' demand for green and safe animal products.

The meeting stressed that it is necessary to continuously optimize and improve the control measures of pig production capacity, and accurately carry out production early warning and guidance. Stabilize long-term support policies such as land, environmental protection, and finance, guide production capacity control bases to adjust production capacity in a timely manner, and promote pig production capacity to stabilize at a scientific and reasonable level. For the consumption off-season that may occur after the Spring Festival next year and the increase in the number of pigs out of the "two heads", it is necessary to guide farmers to sell pigs according to the trend and avoid blind pressure affecting the price recovery. Winter and spring season is the key period to prevent the disaster of low temperature rain and snow in animal husbandry. It is necessary to strengthen monitoring, early warning and disaster dispatch, and focus on guiding the strengthening of enclosures, forage transport, feeding management, and epidemic prevention and control, so as to effectively enhance the ability to prevent and mitigate disasters.

The meeting required that we should continue to strengthen statistical monitoring work, carry out in-depth cross-verification of data quality, strengthen the comparison and verification of data from different sources and comprehensive analysis and judgment, and continue to improve data quality. We will deepen inter-departmental coordination, improve inter-departmental consultation mechanisms, and form joint forces for monitoring, analysis, early warning and guidance. Vigorously promote the information construction of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, take the opportunity of fully completing the unified code assignment and basic information collection of animal husbandry and veterinary production and operation subjects, and speed up the data interconnection of the whole chain.
